Pesticide Residue analysis of foods is conducted in segregated laboratory environment to avoid cross contamination. Test methods are based on national and international standards such as The Pesticide Manual (FDA), EPA, AOAC, IS etc., The methods adopted at KRF are fully validated and important data on spiked recovery tests is furnished in the reports to reflect accuracy of results. All raw data including chromatograms are archived securely for customer reference in case of requirement. The categories of products routinely tested for Pesticide Residues include Water, Food and Agro- products, Soil etc. KRF has special protocols to assist the customers for soil evaluations in respect of organic farming. Residue analysis is carried out for all the categories of pesticides.

Products having longer shelf life are preferred than those having shorter shelf life in the consumer market. KRF conducts shelf life studies to establish the integrity of product over a period of time. This gives assurance to the consumer about the quality & stability of the products. Apart from testing KRF also offers technical advise to the industry on improvement of shelf life of products. Assessment of quality of packaging materials is also undertaken.

Pesticide residues estimated in water, food, drugs, agro-products, soil etc., are -

  • Organo chlorine
  • Organo phosphorous
  • Pyrithroid
  • Carbamate
  • Fungicide
  • Herbicides/weedicide

Chromatographic equipment employed for residue analysis include Gas Chromatographs with FID, ECD, FPD and PID detectors. High performance liquid chromatographs with UV visible.
